A Different Way to Hold What Feels Heavy

Recently, I have been thinking about how little we can ever fully know about another human.

The only life we can truly understand from the inside is our own.

Every person we encounter sees only the pieces of us that are visible in that moment. They hear the words we choose to share, observe our actions, and experience us through the lens of their own history. From there, they may begin filling in the gaps with assumptions, interpretations, and stories about who they believe we are.

And we do the same.

This can become challenging to navigate, especially when a misunderstanding begins to feel more real than the truth.

That is why self-awareness and self-love matter so deeply. When we know who we are, what we value, and what we intended, we become less dependent on someone else’s interpretation of us.

Compassion and transparency can also create a bridge.

We may not be able to control the stories others create, but we can communicate clearly, remain open to listening, and offer context before assumptions have room to grow.

Where in your life might greater transparency create more understanding?

And where might compassion help you release a story you have created about someone else?
